How does Invisalign work?
The Invisalign process begins with your first visit to our San Antonio office.
At your first visit, Dr. Senties will complete a thorough, complimentary (free) exam. This exam includes an assessment of your current smile with diagnostic photos and X-rays. Once your exam is complete and treatment is deemed necessary or beneficial, your Invisalign journey begins! Dr. Senties will take digital impressions of your smile, using the handheld iTero® scanner. This modern system creates precise impressions of your teeth and gums in only a few minutes.
Dr. Senties will use your impressions to create your custom Invisalign aligners.
Your Invisalign treatment will be completed in stages. During each stage, you’ll receive aligners custom-made to fit your smile. One aligner will be made for your top teeth and the other for your bottom teeth. You’ll wear your first set of aligners for one to two weeks, at least 20 to 22 hours each day.
After the first one or two weeks, you’ll begin wearing your second set of custom aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day. (Throughout every stage, you’ll always be instructed to wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day.)
Every one to two weeks, you’ll replace your current aligners with a new set of aligners. Each set of aligners is specially designed to apply the perfect amount of pressure to your teeth to shift them closer to the ideal end position. How long you wear each set of aligners will depend on your custom treatment plan.

Is Invisalign better than at-home clear aligners?
Yes, most definitely! Invisalign is much better and safer than at-home clear aligners and DIY clear aligner companies.
With at-home clear aligners, you won’t have check-in appointments with a real orthodontist who can track your progress and look for potential problems that might arise. You won’t receive an initial exam from a certified orthodontist either. This process can be incredibly risky and unsafe. Undergoing treatment with a person who isn’t an experienced orthodontist or someone who is not even licensed as an orthodontist in the state of Texas can do significant damage to your smile.
Your smile deserves the greatest care. Don’t take risks with at-home aligners. At Senties Family Orthodontics, your Invisalign treatment will be monitored by a skilled orthodontist with years of training, education and experience creating healthy smiles.

Invisalign is Comfortable
Every Invisalign aligner you wear is custom-made to fit your smile! These aligners are made of BPA-free, BPS-free, latex-free, flexible plastic. In other words, they’re designed for comfort. Invisalign shouldn’t cause any irritation around your teeth, gums or cheeks.
Invisalign is Convenient
As long as you keep your aligners in for at least 20 to 22 hours every day, you can remove your aligners whenever you need to! Take out your aligners to brush your teeth, floss your teeth, eat, or drink liquids other than water. You won’t have brackets or wires for food to get stuck, and you can remove your aligners to soak them in a cleaning solution regularly.
This also means you won’t have any dietary restrictions! You get to remove your aligners to eat, so your favorite foods are still on the table.
Invisalign Adjusts to Your Lifestyle
No matter what your day holds, Invisalign won’t disrupt your lifestyle! Many people choose Invisalign, because this treatment is practically invisible. For any social or professional events, you can smile with confidence, knowing your orthodontic treatment is virtually undetectable. If you’re a sports player, you can remove your aligners and replace them with a mouthguard during games and practices.
